AFTERMATH: MERCER vs. APP STATE

Appalachian State did everything they needed to do to earn a win against a good Mercer team on Friday – except finish. It’s a tough lesson to learn but one that may actually benefit the Mountaineers down the road. App State is also a good team with lots of future upside, but not so good or developed that anything can be taken for granted. This one hurt, but App has to move on.

Holding Down the Fort

A week ago today, the New Orleans Pelicans looked like a team completely without direction heading nowhere in particular, and heading their fast. After all, the Pels had lost 10 of their first eleven games of the season, and were facing the prospects of playing the San Antonio Spurs, the most consistently powerful team of the past two decades. Well, after an impressive 3-game win streak, another win on the road against a beaten down Clippers team doesn't seem so far-fetched...

Alabama Basketball Upsets Wichita St, 64-60

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Alabama men’s basketball team upset No. 20 Wichita State, 64-60, on Friday in the second round of the 2015 AdvoCare Invitational. It was the first win for the Crimson Tide over a ranked opponent since Jan. 18, 2011, when Alabama downed then-No. 12 Kentucky at home (68-66).

A Noah Trade To Mavs? The Dallas Thinking

It's a 'speculative rumor,' you might say, and it connects Bulls center Joakim Noah to the Mavs in trade. What would the thinking on Dallas' part be here?

AFTERMATH: APP STATE vs. LIBERTY

In the moment that could’ve spelled defeat for Appalachian State, the Mountaineers suddenly found themselves – or found their offense – and turned it into a going-away victory over Liberty. Now that App State rediscovered that extra gear will they continue to use it? The answer is only hours away, as Appalachian returns to the court on Friday to face a more challenging opponent.

CHALLENGE IN MUSIC CITY PREVIEW

While most of us will spend Thanksgiving weekend pushing back from the table Appalachian State Basketball will spend their holiday in a dry run for the postseason, playing three games in four days. For those postseason expectations to materialize the Mountaineers will need to start finishing what they start, especially offensively where good shots aren’t resulting in points often enough.

Big Breakthrough!

The injury-plagued New Orleans Pelicans started the much anticipated season on a 6-game losing streak. And after getting their first win two weeks ago, the Pels followed that up with another 5 losses in a row. The situation had gotten so ridiculous, the team was forced to use 12 different starting lineups in their first 12 games. So much for the 'continuity' the Pelicans thought they had coming into the season. Instead of giving up, they buckled down & put themselves back in playoff contention.

APP STATE vs. TULANE GAME PREVIEW

Appalachian State is only three games into the new season, but there’s some early anxiety developing around the team’s offensive inconsistency. Since a season-opening win the Mountaineers have seemingly regressed with their shooting and scoring in each subsequent loss. The Mountaineer newcomers have to start adding some scoring punch, and soon.

Eagles win thriller over Penguins

That was fun...

AFTERMATH: APP STATE vs. HAMPTON

Appalachian State Coach Jim Fox used the word “exposed” following the loss to Furman, in describing the Mountaineers’ current struggles. Hampton turned exposed into exploited in running App State off the floor in the second half of an 82-61 blowout. Putting the ball in the basket, or more to the point not, is dooming Appalachian. With four games in the next week the solution need to be imminent.

BTTV: Cuonzo Martin Talks ECU Squeaker

BERKELEY -- What did Cal head coach Cuonzo Martin think of the Bears' squeaker over zoning East Carolina?

PELS WIN...PELS WIN...Part Deux

Although the start of the New Orleans Pelicans season has been a nightmare having lost 11 of their first 12 games, they have had recent success against the powerful San Antonio Spurs. After all, the last time the Spurs came to town, the Pels got a dramatic victory to make the NBA playoffs. Tonight, those same Spurs arrived with a 6-game win streak, while the Pels had dropped five in a row. A recipe for another easy Spurs win, right? Not so fast my friend...THE REST OF THE STORY!

Crimson Tide Defeats Ragin' Cajuns, 105-93

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Shawn Long posted a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds to become the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns all-time leading rebounder, but Alabama sizzled from long range and held off a late rally for a 105-93 victory in a non-conference game on Friday at Coleman Coliseum.

Monster Night for AD

It's been no secret that Anthony Davis has appeared lost at times this season trying to grasp new head coach Alvin Gentry's up-tempo, long-range shooting style of offense. It's also no secret that Davis has been injury prone & misses games, to the tune of 16 per year since he came to the NBA. And before tonight, he had already sat out 4 1/2 of the Pels first 12 contests with hip & shoulder injuries. But when AD is healthy & ready to play, great things usually happen....

The Flamethrower Strikes Again

The Pelicans finally got their 2nd win of the season tonight vs the always powerful San Antonio Spurs. With Anthony Davis, Tim Duncan, LaMarcus Aldridge & Kawhi Leonard all playing, who would have thought the best forward on the Smoothie King Center floor would be the Pels Ryan Anderson? But after 30 points and six 3-pointers, the sharp shooting Anderson left no doubt to who was the MVP tonight. Here's the REST OF THE STORY....

Alabama Uses Treys For 105-93 Win

Coming off a 32-point road loss at Dayton, Avery Johnson and his Alabama basketball team were looking for positives against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Friday night. After a 105-93 Bama victory, Johnson found a few things to smile about. At least three, as in 3-pointers, as his team made 15-of-25 behind the arc, a blistering 60 per cent.
