Thunderstorms a threat this evening

Labor Day weekend should be dry and comfortable

While it'll be another pleasant start to the day in New Jersey, expect a wet ending.

Skies will be mostly sunny this morning and before we see a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon, the National Weather Service says. Highs will climb into the low 90s inland and the upper 80s along the Shore. In Sparta, it should reach 87, while highs of 91 and 83 are expected in Ewing and Atlantic City, respectively.

Most places will be about seven to nine degrees above normal.

This evening, there's a threat of heavy rain, including thunderstorms. The precipitation is likely to continue into the overnight as temps fall into the upper 60s.

Thursday is shaping up as grey day. Forecasters aren't expecting a washout, but there's a threat of showers and thunderstorms most of the day. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s.

The Labor Day weekend is shaping up nicely -- dry and sunny with highs of about 80 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Evenings will be comfortable with clear conditions and temps dropping into the 60s in most spots. Northwestern areas of the state will have lows in the upper 50s.
